Rice farming begins at northern paddy fields

Farmers have started planting rice seedlings at paddy fields in the northern province of Gilan.

The photo, taken in early May, is depicting two women planting the seedlings in a paddy field in the province.

Rice seed is first planted close together in one flooded paddy and grows into seedlings that will be transplanted into many paddy fields. A paddy field is a flooded parcel of arable land used for growing rice.
